So, I ran across a discussion along these lines elsewhere and found it an interesting idea to ponder. I know for myself, I definitely prefer female Sims as focal characters. My male Sims tend to just become supporting actors for the leading ladies. I've also noticed that my own bias towards redheads shows up in my gaming. I tend to take too many pictures. I also tend to micromanage my Sims. Concerning style, I rather favor a Victorian/steampunk look, and that shows up on several of my Sims. I also prefer longer hairstyles. I gravitate towards the same 10 or so traits and I would make every Sim have Renaissance Sim as their LTW if I could. How about you?

Most of my sims are females with themes. Particularly color centralized themes.

I really like sims with unusual facial features! You know, perhaps a larger than normal nose or chin. Or just something generally considered unusual or imperfect. I try to encourage it by marrying my heirs off to sims who aren't generically attractive. I think my next legacy might have to be an uglacy, I would be in genetics heaven!

Well my worst simming habit is the fact that the only sim games I run anymore are the published stories. but aside from that I have a tendency to define characters by one character trait. Be it a love of gambling, or a controlling nature. I also have a thing for legacy type stuff, trying to get as many branches and as much length to the family tree as possible.
For aesthetic, all of my Sims are rather bland and perfect looking, and many of the houses I build are designed to be easy to play in, therefore being unnecessarily large and well too spacious. Also, I have a bad habit of making the entire house follow one kind of color scheme, can't help it ;D

House building stuff is always amusing to step back and analyze. Some create those very screenshots-friendly homes, then you have people like me who create the 3x4 kids' bedroom and then spend and extra 5-10 minutes finding the correct angle to get anything resembling a decent shot. I've only recently started to expand beyond the few flooring and wall covering options I would lean towards. I'm also starting to take more interest in getting small details (decoration and such)going on in the houses I build. I was definitely a minimalist for the early going in my Simming career ;=)

I usually start out with male sims. I also have a bad habit of killing off one of the parents once I have all the children I want. I just don't like having so many sims to control. So my towns are usually filled with single fathers.

I also lean towards female sims, though sometimes I force myself to pick male heirs for my legacy, just to add some variety. I can't help but cheat because I can't bear to see my Sims suffer too much - I recently had two Sims in a relationship argue until they weren't in love or even friends anymore and then had them break up. Broke my heart - I always feel guilty when I force them to do things like that. The only way I can keep myself from giving up on a legacy in the second or third generation is telling stories. Otherwise, I just get bored
